A Strange Place Called the Blogosphere

Surfing the Web is a blast. But somewhere deep inside lies a strange place called the Blogosphere. It seems dark and mystical. Why do I keep getting lost in it? And is it really safe to breathe the vapors?

Blog Search Engines

When surfing the Web, it is easy to use the Google and Yahoo search engines to find websites to visit. But searching the Blogosphere is more like trying to speak a foreign language. Technorati seems to be the place to go, but the search results don’t seem all that related to the search. Maybe it just takes a little getting used to.

guide to blogging

So I bought a book.

“The Rough Guide to Blogging” tries to explain the Blogosphere and gives some tips on how to blog. This inexpensive guide lists many blog categories and website examples. After reading the guide, I felt more confident.

It also warned against Blogorrhea.

Blogorrhea = Writing a blog entry just for the sake of posting an entry, not because you have something interesting you want to say.

Wandering Through the Blogosphere

I wandered through the Blogosphere for an hour or so. But even armed with my blog list from the guide, I still felt lost and a bit discouraged. Finally, I stumbled upon this blog title, “Traditional Blogs are Dying: Part 1″ by Lee Raito. That caught my attention.
