It’s hard to believe that my daughter Courtney’s 2010 wedding began with one photo, one simple image, one brief glance at a website. (Of course, I’m skipping over many other unsuccessful weekend trips visiting numerous other New Hampshire wedding venues.) Courtney and I lived two hours apart. She was in Arlington, Ma while I was in the Lake Sunapee Region of New Hampshire. So finding a happy somewhere-in-between for a wedding proved to be more complicated than we thought.
A bit frustrated, I looked to the internet for help. Using search engines, I stumbled across the Shattuck Golf Club website. It wasn’t the layout of the website that impressed me, but I found the wedding information to be clear and straight forward. And then I came across the photo of the cathedral ballroom. I stared at that photo, picturing Courtney and her fiancee walking in as bride and groom. I didn’t even know where Jaffrey NH was located, but I soon found it on a map. And that’s where it all started.

This one website image set the ball rolling for all the wedding plans we eventually made. Next we met a wonderful cake designer, Denise Wright, a fabulous photographer, Steve Holmes, and a very talented florist, Mardi Poliquin. Then we made reservations to reserve every bedroom in the Monadnock Inn for the weekend. Noel and Stephen Pierce of the Monadnock Inn also hosted our rehearsal evening cocktail party for 60 people and treated us like royalty.
So it goes to show that the images you add to your website may end up being more significant than you could ever imagine. You never know who may stop by. One brief glance at an image may be the moment where a visitor chooses your restaurant over the one next door. One beautiful bedroom photo may be the deciding factor for a family reserving an entire Bed and Breakfast for a wedding weekend. One majestic ballroom photo may lead to a memorable New Hampshire wedding with many more photos to be taken and cherished for a lifetime.

Nice anecdote about the importance of including great photos on your website! You’re absolutely right; a photo that captures something special about your business may just be the factor that makes a potential customer choose you. Thanks for sharing your experience, and congratulations to your family!
Herzlichen Dank für diesen informativen Artikel. Interessanter Blog und tolles Layout. Eine Sache interessiert mich aber: Wo ist der “gefällt mir” Button Von Facebook? Liebe Grüße
It’s been a good while since I’ve been back here… hasn’t changed much. Hope to see you spruce it up some soon.
usefull information, thanks. hope you add some more posts soon.
Photography for websites can take the form of several things. It can be great headshots of yourself and staff, along with action shots of you performing your service or selling your products. Or it can be all about your products, and this too often is often the most uninspiring part of many websites.
