Step into Blogging
To Blog or Not to Blog
Getting ready to start a blog is not an easy task. But I feel better knowing that great bloggers enjoy reading, researching their topics, spending time on their computers, and surfing the web. I love those things. Count me in.
Do You Like to Write?
If you like to write, you’re on your way to becoming a good blogger. Mostly, I love to tell humorous true stories. I’ve even dabbled in writing children stories, but I set that aside temporarily a couple years ago. Wait. Setting something aside temporarily for two years. Is that a cop out? Today is the first day of 2009. It’s going to be a great year. I am writing again. That is a good sign.
Do you have a Blog Topic?
If you are passionate about your topic, it will be much easier to update your blog. This blog is about blogging, not a very original idea, but I am really interested in the subject. What subject interests you? When you surf the web, where do you go? Your blog topic is probably there.
Can You Take Criticism?
You will be publishing your opinions for the entire online community to read. This will expose you to negative responses to your posts from time to time. This seems like the toughest part. When I shared my blog ideas with my husband, he responded, “I don’t get it.” I tried to explain what a blog was and why I was starting one, but he continued to shake his head. The whole thing seems rather pointless to him.
But that’s okay. I am doing it anyway. I am stepping into blogging. If I don’t mention it to him again for a while, does that mean that I don’t take criticism well? Maybe. What if my posts have no comments at all? Which is worse?
Now I am staring at the “Publish” button. I am going to press it. Just give me a minute.
